Georgia Medical Marijuana Card Online
Georgia's medical marijuana card is the Department of Public Health's Medical Cannabis card. Book a telehealth evaluation with a Georgia-licensed physician ($74.99 with code 75off, refunded in full if you're not approved), and once you're certified, pay the $30 card fee. The card lasts five years.
What does a Georgia medical marijuana card actually get you?
Straight answer: legal possession of medical cannabis products containing up to 12,000 mg of THC in total, bought from a dispensary licensed by the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission or an independent pharmacy licensed by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy. Since July 1, 2026, licensed producers may make oils, tinctures, transdermal patches, lotions, capsules, ingestibles, and vape products, including flower for vaporization; before that, only oils, tinctures, patches, lotions, and capsules were allowed. No one 21 or younger may vape, and no one may use medical cannabis in a public place. Smoking cannabis is still illegal, cannabis-infused candies and cookies aren't allowed, and each package tops out at 1,200 mg of THC.
Visiting from another state? A home-state card may cover possession for under 45 days, but buying here takes a Georgia card. See our Georgia reciprocity guide. The full product rules are in our Georgia medical cannabis law guide.

Which conditions qualify for Georgia medical cannabis?
Georgia certifies from a fixed list of 18 qualifying conditions (17 diagnoses named in state law, plus hospice care), and the July 2026 law made it meaningfully broader. Any cancer now qualifies (except non-metastatic skin cancer), Crohn's was expanded to all inflammatory bowel disease, lupus was added, and the old "severe or end stage" hurdles were dropped from diagnoses like multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's. The list still includes ALS, seizure disorders, PTSD for adults, intractable pain, sickle cell disease, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer's, and more. Beyond the diagnosis, you must be 18 or older and a Georgia resident; a child with a qualifying condition is covered through a parent, guardian, or legal custodian who holds a caregiver card.

Georgia cannabis card questions, answered
Is medical marijuana legal in Georgia?
Yes, for registered patients, though Georgia's legal term is medical cannabis. Patients certified by a Georgia-licensed physician and registered with the Department of Public Health may possess products containing up to 12,000 mg of THC in total under O.C.G.A. 16-12-191. Recreational marijuana and smoking cannabis remain illegal.
Does the $74.99 include Georgia's state card fee?
No. The $74.99 (with code 75off) covers the telehealth physician evaluation, and it's refunded in full if you aren't approved. The Department of Public Health charges its own $30 card fee ($3.75 more via its online portal; money orders carry no service fee), and the card is valid for five years.
Who issues the Georgia medical cannabis card?
The Georgia Department of Public Health. Since July 1, 2026 the credential is officially the Medical Cannabis card: the Putting Georgia's Patients First Act (SB 220) renamed what used to be the Low THC Oil Registry card.
What if the doctor doesn't approve me?
You get a full refund of the $74.99 evaluation fee, and you never owe the state's $30 card fee, because the Department of Public Health only bills patients after a physician certifies them. Eligibility is entirely the physician's decision, based on Georgia's qualifying-conditions list and your medical history.
Is it still called a Low THC Oil card?
Not anymore. SB 220 renamed the program on July 1, 2026: it is now the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry, and the old 5% THC cap and 20-ounce limit gave way to a 12,000 mg total-THC possession limit. Unexpired Low THC Oil cards stay valid until their printed expiration date.
How fast can I book a Georgia telehealth evaluation?
Booking takes a few minutes online: pick a time, create your patient profile, and meet a Georgia-licensed physician by phone or video. Georgia's Composite Medical Board allows remote evaluations held to the same standard of care as an in-person visit, so the evaluation itself can happen from home.
